SS125 – Known as Orientale Sarda, it is one of the most beautiful scenic roads in Italy. The route leads up from the south to Ogliastra reaching the inland part of the coastal towns of Tertenia, Cardedu, Barisardo and Lotzorai, and finally climbing to the mountains of Supramonte of Baunei from where you travel along 50 km of beautiful scenery and tranquility until you reach Dorgali. The last stretch of the 125 in Nuoro province is a scenic tour of the most beautiful coastline of Baronia from the beaches of Orosei to those of Capo Comino, Santa Lucia and La Caletta which comes to a climax with the unparallelled view of the cliff of Posada. Its curves make it highly revered by motorcyclists while the more experienced cyclists will find it to be an excellent workout with its ever-changing gradients.
SS 128 – meaning The Sardinian Central, takes you straight to the heart of Sardinia East land. From the majestic archaeological area of Nuraghe Nolza to the lush vineyards of Mandrolisai climbing to the incredible scenery that will take you to the highest point of the island. and then again on the road between ancient villages and not-to-be-missed museums like that of Nivola in Orani
SS 129 Sardinian Trasversale – From Marina di Orosei this road will lead you through the verdant environs of Baronia and among its quaint villages, namely Onifai and Galtellì. Arriving in Nuoro you can explore Barbagia by way of Oniferi and Orotelli passing through the forests of Bolotana until reaching Macomer, the center of Marghine. the archaeological site known as the treasures of Silanus and the other villages of the Media Valle del Tirso territory.
SS.131 DCN – The fastest artery connecting the eastern side of the island to the 131 reaches the province of Nuoro near Olzai and constitutes the quickest way to access different parts of the area such as Barbagia di Ollolai, Il Nuorese and Baronia. The freeway is especially convenient if you’re traveling by car and don’t have much time to spare.
SS 198 – a driving tour along this state road will take you to pristine Ogliastra starting from Ussassai at the border of Barbagia di Seulo, a town of woods and tacchi, table-like Mesozoic mountains, like Gairo, Lanusei and on through more tacchi and sea views to reach ilbono and finally Tortolì where you can relax and sunbathe on an breathtaking beach. This road is especially popular for the breathtaking scenery you will encounter.
SS 295 – This road crosses the most mountainous areas of Nuoro province where the landscape becomes almost alpine. From Tonara, the town of Nougat to Desulo with its succulent local products, to the woods of Belvì, Aritzo a village known for its ice production and chestnuts and finally Gadoni that dominates from above the Flumendosa river. By virtue of the innumerable curves and spectacular scenery through which it passes, it is very popular with bikers.
SS 389 – Among oaks and history, this long, winding road is especially popular with motorcyclists and cyclists along certain stretches. It starts from Talana in Ogliastra, crosses the scenic hamlet of Villanova in the territory of Villagrande Strisaili up to Lanusei and continues upward towards the inland areas as far as Nuoro. In the stretch that goes from the area of Pratosardo and Orune to Bitti, the road runs through enchanting cork oak forests. In the last one, the route skirts the mesmerizing archaeological site of Romanzesu.
